As I read the reporting, it was creative accounting (including not
paying Novell for Unix royalties) and a law firm that gave SCO a really
good deal.

There still is a contract-based lawsuit against IBM, but it doesn't
affect Linux users directly. There may be an appeal of this verdict as
well, and the judge has a few items to rule on, but mostly Linux users
are done with SCO. Then again, they do seem to keep coming back like a
monster from a horror movie.
