It's an error-prone solution. It's like on the right side of the road 90% of the time but then having to drive on the left side the other 10%. You can imagine the accidents that would ensue. Again, of *all* the lists I am on (including public ones), this is the only list that does this.

I certainly try to be courteous as much as possible, but fixing it programmatically involves no error because there is nothing human about it. It just works. I would be very surprised to find out that Mailman couldn't grab a person's name from the From header bit strip off the e-mail.

Adding that would avoid all sorts of problems, in my opinion and we would never have to have these silly discussions about it and can just concentrate on the cool stuff, like the awesome t-shirt that started this thread.
