BTW Mike.. I looked int A/UX (Apple UNIX) that you are looking to run on that
system... It's pretty sweet!

I didn't even KNOW about this variant of AT&T UNIX! I wonder if you can run
the GNU utils along side the base OS tools? :)

Continuing our discussion from this afternoon, A/UX appears to have come out a
few years before Amiga UNIX (AMIX) -- back around 1988! However, it seems to
have been based on SVR2.. while AMIGA-AMIX in 90/91 was based on SVR4 back
when AT&T licensed SVR4 on several non AT&T computer systems (but Amiga being
the first).

I configured a couple of AmigaUX A3000 systems with 24bit graphics cards
running X11 back in College Station TX (whoop!). Pretty sweet!

Those suckers were like $7k back then! And you had to install AMIX from a
bootable 150MiB tape drive no less! Took hours, but was VERY cool to bring
X11 up on an Amiga 3000. :)

But for A/UX, it looks like you need at least 16MiB of RAM minimum... probably
want to kick it up to at least 24-32BiM or so. Especially if you're going to
be doing running native Mac apps on its compatibility API.

BTW.. You DO have an MMU in that unit right? You need an FPU and MMU. If its
not an LC 030 proc, then MMU should be built in.. but IIRC, you will still
need to buy an FPU if your SE doesn't have one (to run A/UX). Never mind..
it seems that it DOES have an integrated FPU!

Very nice..

BTW... Poke around the net on docs for overclocking this sucker.. IIRC.. my
Mac roommate had me help him with some soldering to rev up his SE/30 a
bit. :) At least I think it was his SE... he had so many Macs.. hehe

Good luck man! If you get it working.. bring it in for a demo!

Tweeks
