So I'm still waiting for, well, a number of things, but I thought I
would share this for anyone that might find it useful:

It's basically a bare-bones system made by VIA just for DIY NAS
solutions. It has a CF slot and room for two drives. I *almost*
grabbed this up, but wanted one with better cooling options and space
for 3 drives. So I think I'm sticking with my current plan, which is
to use my current file-server chassis and slowly migrate to a more NAS
centric solution.
Nice thing about the all-in-one is power savings is going to be huge.
The PSU is correctly spec'd (not wasted energy due to under-loading a
PSU, etc.) and it's using a Nano-ITX style board.
Also, there are these:

Pretty hot! I thought about putting these in a RAID1, but it might not
be all that redundant since the issue with flash is number of writes.
So, instead, I was thinking of using a spare one and doing a standard
rsync say every week or even month. It doesn't need to be very often
since the data on root should not be changing hardly at all.
NewEgg has devices like this as well if you would rather buy from
them. I like Logic Supply because they host with Rackspace (SliceHost
actually) and they have plenty of ITX motherboards. NewEgg's selection
is hella lame in that regard, although they are cheaper in situations
where they both have had the same item (such as a case).
Thought I'd share :)
