Hey all!

NOTE: DIFFERENT LOCATION THIS MONTH.  Due to construction and power 
maintenance in the Nail Technical Center, we will be meeting in the next 
building  over--the Academic Instructional Center, SE of the NTC, in room 
320, 7-10pm.

So far, no one has flagged me that they're doing a formal presentation this 
month... but we do have some interesting hardware coming in and interesting 
stuff going on.


Dell 8-core Workstation Demo: By Gene 
Gene is bringing in his new Dell 8 core workstation to show and share. He 
really got this system for a steal! Come and here his story and see this 
speed demon blaze! 

Discussion on Stock, Factory Linux Laptops: By Tweeks and Participants
Tweeks recently bought his wife a Dell mini-9 with 8GiB SSD, 1GiB of RAM, and 
a dual core Atom 1.6GHz proc running a stock, factory installed Ubuntu load. 
He bought it because of the great price ($240) and the lack of the "Windows 
tax". Before the Dell, he bough himself a stock 13" Ubuntu laptop from Linux 
Certified. Both of these Linux Laptops will be on display and hands on test 
drives.
 
There are several other "stock Linux Laptop" vendors out there now that we 
should all be supporting. Come and check out what a stock, factory Linux 
laptops looks like now days and hear what else the market has to offer. :) 

FREEBIES!: Tweeks will also talk to some Ubuntu Racker friends of his and see 
if he can bring in a handful of free (as in beer) Ubuntu Case Badges to 
brandish on your Linux lappy!
 
Video Editing Hands On: With Bruce and Tweeks
Bruce and Tweeks will be fiddling with the 1.5hr Richard Stallman lecture from 
last month. The video is raw AVI/MPEG spread across multiple flash drives. 
Tweeks and Bruce will be editing, merging, and transcoding the videos to 
prepare it to be uploaded to the XCSSA site. Come see what tools they use and 
what to do with this type of editing job!
