[XCSSA] Once again, cable vs DSL, and also Grande

Based on what I read here and elsewhere, I decided to order Grande  
internet-only service today.  Will stick to Dish for TV and AT&T POTS  
(Plain Old Telephone Service) for landphone.

Everyone says Grande service is better.  Could hardly be worse than  
the national giants, according to many reports.

It was a treat to place the order even:

1) Instead of requiring me to give SSN, they accepted credit card.

2) No installation charge.  (With U-Verse, you may face $200  
installation charge, possibly rebated to some degree, but getting  
those rebates isn't easy according to many reports.)

3) No hidden fees.  12mbps service is listed as $49.95 and they say  
my second bill should be $51.97 including tax.

4) You can choose to buy modem from them for $36, buy your own, or  
lease modem for $2/month.  I decided to buy one from them.  That way  
I'm getting new modem set up by them.  I think I will buy a spare  
elsewhere  maybe for a few pennies less.  (With the other guys, your  
stuck with whatever used junk they give you, which is locked down so  
nothing else can be used.  Last year the first replacement modem TWC  
gave me didn't work.  The second one looked older but worked.)
