[XCSSA] bootable usb stick from NetBSD boot disks

I'm attempting to create a boot-able usb stick from Net-BSD boot disks.
I'd like to play with the NetBSD firewall project.
I have only found directions for doing this from Dos/windows.
Do I have to use windows?
