If you had come.. you would see that he's already got the motor controller 
part nailed down.

Hey Fredrik.. that's an idea.. you might be abel to multiplex one of your 
motor controller's outputs to a thrid motor to open/close the lid.. since you 
probably wouldn't be doign so while moving anyway. :)  You should be able to 
do that with either a couple of power triacs or a FETs. No?
