NICs have always been problematic. At one point.. Myself and others in the
Amiga community were trying to get SCSI to Ethernet transceiver companies to
support the Amgia (which would have been great since most Amigas had SCSI):

There were a couple of $50-200 10Bmit Ethernet cards (mostly thinnet/10b5),
but no one would pay that now... Even on ebay you still see them:

Actually.. the early a3000s didn't have a hardwired kickstart. Just a
pre-boot environment (from a ROM tower) that allowed you to softkick into
special factory ROM image files for KS 1.3, 2.0, 2.1 or whatever.
