Hi Fredrik!
I'm not 100% sure yet but I do plan on making the meeting. I was going
to say I can bring my MidiBox and test the chips there but the only
thing I can test is a testtone without a keyboard and/or computer. I
may be able to use some of the MidiBox apps to run a test on, however.
I'll have to look. Only catch is I only currently have parts for the
6581 SIDs. I have parts in the mail for the 8580/6582a's but I don't
think I'll have the boards in or ready by then.
Either way, I don't mind testing them. I can mail them back to you as
well if you don't want to wait an entire month :)
Also, I'm not sure if you plan on building a MidiBox but I may not
need my 6581 SID board if you want to use that in your MidiBox since
I''m likely going to use the 6582a's (my order came in woohoo!).
Technically, the board can be easily modified for running an
8580/6582a but the socket uses rounded holes and I've had the chip
fall out before :P The kit (with the board, volt. reg and caps for
both SID variants) is $15 though. I'm also getting printed boards made
for a C64 PSU board and memory chip board. I can send you the schems
if you want (they are in the mail so I don't know if they work yet :).
