PARnet and PC2Amiga are two very different things with different cabling.
PARnet lets you connect two Amigas (A500/A[234]000/CDTV/CD32) together
through the parallel port so one can access the other's disk storage and
peripherals. It uses an 8-bit bidirectional cable (wiring diagram in the
PARnet documentation).
PC2Amiga lets you connect a PC running DOS or win95 to your Amiga so you
can access its disk storage and peripherals. It uses a "LapLink" style
cable (aka windows direct-connect cable.)
PARnet and PC2Amiga address different needs and do not interoperate.
I've used both packages and speak from experience.
Again, PARnet and PC2Amiga are NOT the same thing, the latter is NOT a
newer version of the former.
