Worked great under windows 9x but I have not been able to get it to
work under XP despite following several pages of "tricks" I found on
the web.

My problem with PC2Amiga under XP might be because of the drivers for
my add-in serial/parallel card. I've been meaning to remove the
card, uninstall the drivers, and see if I can get it to work with the
built-in parallel port. I use an actual laplink cable, which I
bought in the 90's, so I can use the faster parallel mode. (PC2Amiga
won't work on regular parallel cable.) I might also try the serial
mode, which I've never done before, it's slower but would be better
than nothing at all.

I was able to get it to list directories, but it hangs on file
transfers. Could also be a Norton problem, Norton doesn't like to
see unauthorized parallel usage. It's hard to tell what Norton is
doing, but it wants to monitor all I/O and ethernet. I've tried
cutting back Norton as far as it can be cut back.

I fiddled with the PC2Amiga driver settings to remove the timeout
feature (another trick) but that didn't help.

PC2Amiga was written for the old non-virtual serial/parallel drivers
under Win 9x, so you have to trick your way around that.
Theoretically, it's doable, and some people have gotten it to work
under XP, others haven't.

At this point, though, I should really get the Amiga Ethernet cards I
picked up a few years ago working instead.

Tweeks, have you ever set up the Amiga ethernet cards?

I recall there were some limitations with soft-kick. Certain Roms,
maybe 2.0 didn't softkick, but 2.1 and later did. If you had the
earliest A3000 with 1.3 Roms, it HAD to softkick because the the
machine wouldn't run with 1.3. So the earliest A3000 started with
1.3 in ROM but then immediately softkicked itself into 2.0.

I've started trying to get my amiga-centric GFFT running under Amiga
Forever, but first stumbled on not getting GNUPLOT to run under Amiga
Forever.
